Plus, a thing to note here is that you do have a lot more activities to do during the intense summer months. This may be the best option that you can have at this point, but in the end, it will obviously be the right approach for you. So, adapt that to your advantage, and the results can be very well worth it.
May and June
Just because the summer months are by far the best ones, that doesn’t mean you should avoid visiting Crater Lake during this period. On the contrary, if anything, you should note that these are transition months for the park. The winter tends to go away, and summer is slowly bringing in warmer temperatures.
During this time, you will see that the lingering snow will prevent access to some regions of the park. Of course, there will still be some attractions that are still open, so the results you will get will be more than ok.
But this may not be the best time to visit Crater Lake. It can still be a good option, but it can come with some challenges, and that is obviously a demanding thing to have.
During these two months, you can go to the Rim Village, which is a very challenging thing to do in some of the previous months of the year. If you do that and take your time, results will be more than ok, and you should consider doing that if you want to adapt to the situation.
September and October

The idea here is to figure out what works for you and what doesn’t, which in the end can be quite the tricky thing to deal with. However, October is not the best time to visit Crater Lake.
There are a few reasons for that. This is one of the snowiest inhabited places in the US, so you will see snow pouring in pretty early in the year. Many times, most of the roads will just be accessible until October, because that’s when snow will pour and it will not be the best time to visit Crater Lake!
November to March
While it can be a nice time to enjoy the winter months here, the reality is that there are many perils involved here. The mountains are not perfect for skiing or anything like that, and hiking is also pretty challenging to do as well.
The idea is to figure out what approach you have and the options can be really good in the end. Adapt that to the entire experience and the results can be second to none in the end. But you have to realize that visiting the Crater Lake during this time is very hard to do and it will obviously lead to some major issues.
So, if you want to stay safe and avoid any problems, you are better off enjoying some of the other months listed above.
Let’s face it, while photos will look cool when you visit the Crater Lake; the reality is that your visit as a whole will be a bad one here.
There’s not a lot to see here during the winter, and most of the attractions are closed, so try to adapt that to your schedule and make sure that you don’t waste a lot of time in there.
